Copilot Can Now Schedule Your Meetings — Here's How

Apr 04, 2026
Connect

In this edition of the 🧭 Microsoft 365 Compass 🧭 newsletter, we’re zeroing in on a major shift in how we use AI at work.

Microsoft has been steadily expanding what Copilot can do inside Microsoft 365, and with the Wave 3 announcements in March 2026, the direction is clear: Copilot is no longer just a place to ask questions. It's a place to get work done. These updates shift Copilot from a conversational tool to an agent that actually takes action on your behalf, inside the apps you already use every day.

We are really starting to see Copilot gain significant momentum as it moves from "chatting" to "doing." One feature, in particular, tackles one of the most repetitive parts of the workday: scheduling meetings.

Schedule a Meeting Directly from Copilot

How much time do you spend hunting for a time slot that works for everyone? Finding mutual availakind of task bility across multiple calendars, composing the invite, and adding stakeholders adds up quickly. It’s the that interrupts your flow without requiring much deep thinking.

With this new Copilot feature, you can handle the whole "loop" in a single conversation.

Here's how it works in practice:

  • Open Copilot Chat and type something like: "Schedule a meeting with [Stakeholder Names] to discuss [Topic]."
  • Copilot checks the calendars of everyone you named and surfaces available time slots where everyone is free.
  • It presents a few options for you to choose from.

  • Once you pick a time and click Send Invite, Copilot creates the calendar event and sends it without you ever leaving the chat.

Think of it as having a scheduling coordinator built right into your workflow. What I appreciate here is that Copilot carries the task through to completion. That’s a meaningful shift from earlier versions and exactly the kind of friction reduction that makes AI feel genuinely useful rather than just "interesting."

What’s Next: Momentum and CoWork

These features are just the beginning of Copilot's evolution into a true task-completer. Speaking of momentum, there is a lot of buzz following the recent announcement of CoWork.

I’m already diving into the details of how CoWork will change the way teams collaborate within the Microsoft ecosystem, and I will be covering that in-depth in upcoming content. If you thought scheduling a meeting via chat was a time-saver, wait until you see what’s coming next

🧠 Final Thoughts

What strikes me most is how close we are to closing the loop on tasks that used to require jumping between three different apps. Scheduling meetings isn't glamorous, but getting that time back matters.

I’d love your input:

👉 Have you started using Copilot Chat for actual tasks like scheduling?

👉 Is your organization seeing that same momentum, or are you still in the early adoption stages?

As always, just hit reply—I read every message!

A Tool Worth Trying

From time to time I like to share tools I'm actively testing outside of the Microsoft 365 world, and this one is worth knowing about.

Gamma is an AI-powered tool that lets you create polished presentations, documents, and websites from a simple text prompt in under a minute. No design skills required. You describe what you need, and it handles the structure, layout, and visuals. It's genuinely fast, and the output is far more refined than you'd expect for a first draft.

It has a free plan, so there's no reason not to try it.
