Getting Started with the New Microsoft Teams Chat and Channel Experience
The new Microsoft Teams Chat and Channel experience is now available in preview, and in this post, I'll break down quickly how to use it and how it can help increase your productivity. Here's what you need to know.
Turning the New Chat and Channel Experience On and Off
To enable and disable the new Microsoft Teams Chat and Channel experience, click on the Settings button and then click on the Chats and Channels option. To enable the feature, select Combined and to disable it, select Separate. You will notice as you switch between these options the Teams icon in the app rail appears and disappears.
Switching Between Chats and Channels with Filter Pills
When using the new Teams Chat and Channel Experience you can quickly switch between your chats and channels by clicking the filter pills located at the top of the chat menu. This makes it easier to focus on specific conversations and navigate seamlessly between different workstreams.
Creating Custom Sections for Enhanced Productivity
Boost your productivity by organizing your chats and channels into Custom Sections. This feature allows you to group related items in a way that makes sense for your workflow.
To create a custom section, right click on a chat or channel that you want to add to a custom section and click on Move To and then click New Section. Next, give the custom section a Name and then click Create.
To add additional chats or channels to a custom section, simply right click on the chat or channel, click on Show In and then select Custom Section.
