📈Productivity Unleashed📈 Exploring the SharePoint 📁Out-of-the-Box Library 📁Templates
As someone who is constantly exploring ways to enhance productivity with SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 apps, I am always on the lookout for new features or subtle hacks that can save you 🕛time🕛. That’s why I’m thrilled to share with you a recently released feature that has the potential to transform your SharePoint experience: the Out of the Box Library Templates. This innovative feature promises to make document management more streamlined and user-friendly, ultimately boosting your productivity. Let’s dive in and explore what this new feature has to offer!
What is the Sharepoint Out-of-the-Box Document Library Templates Feature?
The SharePoint Out-of-the-Box Document Library Templates feature provides pre-configured templates that you can use to create new document libraries, saving you time and effort. These templates come with predefined settings, views, and columns, which can be customized to suit your specific needs. You can view and use the available out-of-the-box template SharePoint libraries when you are creating a new library on a SharePoint Site from both the +New menu or from the Site Contents New Menu.
What Sharepoint Out-of-the-Box Document Library Templates Are Available?
At the time that this post was written, there are 3️⃣ three 3️⃣ SharePoint Document Library templates available that were published by Microsoft. The first template is a Media Library which is designed to catalogue and track media assets. This template features multiple views, conditional formatting and even a prebuilt Power Automate flow that will send a reminder to the user selected in the Project Lead person type column three days before the date entered in the Release Date column.
The second template Invoices, is preconfigured to store invoice files and features typical columns that describe attributes of invoices such as amount, status, due date etc. Like the Media Library, this template also features a prebuilt Microsoft Power Automate workflow that sends a reminder via email to the user selected in the payment contact field three days before the invoice due date.
Note that when using a template that features a pre-built workflow, you have the option to create the SharePoint document library template without the flow as outlined in the image below.
The third template Learning, is aimed at educators and is preconfigured to store lesson plans and teaching resources. Unlike the previous two templates, this template does not feature a prebuilt Microsoft Power Automate workflow.

It is also important to note that, on the Create a New Document Library menu, there is a tab titled "From Your Organization" that implies organizations are able to create custom document library templates. However, when writing this post, I was unable to find any support documentation outlining how this can be done either from the SharePoint Admin center or on the SharePoint site.
