➕Insert➕ Microsoft Forms in PowerPoint and Say 👋Goodbye👋 to Third Party Apps
In today's edition of the 🧭Microsoft 365 Compass🧭newsletter, I have an exciting tip to share that will spare you from having to use third-party apps to help facilitate presentations.
Did you know that you can insert a Microsoft Form directly into your PowerPoint presentations?
Many Microsoft 365 users are unaware of this powerful feature and often resort to using third-party apps such as Slido, SurveyMonkey, and others to conduct live polling during presentations. While these apps are great, managing your work across different platforms can hinder productivity and slow you down.
By embedding a Microsoft Form in PowerPoint, you can:
- Collect ⌚real-time⌚ feedback during presentations
- 🤝Engage🤝 your audience with live interactive polls and quizzes
- Simplify your 🏢workflow🏢 by keeping everything within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem
How to Add Microsoft Forms to PowerPoint
To embed a Microsoft Form in PowerPoint, follow these steps:
- Open your PowerPoint presentation.
- Go to the slide where you want to add the form.
- Click on the “Insert” tab and select “Forms.”
This will display a Microsoft Forms pane in your PowerPoint interface. From this pane, you can either create a new form or quiz or select a form that has already been created directly in Microsoft Forms.
In the illustration below, I've selected a form I created previously called "AirPlane Poll". Note that when you add the form, you will be given a choice to either "Present for Interactive" meetings or "Collect Responses Offline". If you want to poll meeting participants live and have the responses display in real-time, then select "Present for Interactive" meetings.

Note that with interactive polls, you can display the results as either a treemap or bar chart and you can choose to hide or show the QR code and link as well. As you will see in the illustration below, as responses are submitted the chart will update in real-time to display the results.
✅Yes ✅ It’s that simple! So if you have previously been using a third-party app to conduct live polling when delivering presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, seriously spare yourself the extra work and just keep it within the confines of your Microsoft 365 environment.
What if the Microsoft Forms icon is not displayed on the insert tab of my Microsoft PowerPoint?
It is important to note that this feature is available only for Microsoft 365 for Education and Business users. This feature is not available with individual or family based Microsoft 365 licences. If you have one of the two supported licence types cited above and are unable to see the Microsoft Forms icon on the Insert tab of Microsoft PowerPoint, contact your Microsoft 365 administrators and request that they enable the Microsoft Form add-in following these instructions.
